Thomas Knox pleaded guilty to assault causing harm and criminal damage at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 12 December 2016. The offences followed a dispute at his neighbour’s Dublin home on 13 May 2014, during which a garda suffered a serious shoulder injury. Knox was intoxicated when he pulled down part of a garden fence and grabbed Garda Shane Buckley’s arm, according to the report.
The court heard that Garda Buckley required surgery, four weeks in a sling and extensive physiotherapy. Judge Pauline Codd adjourned the matter for three months so Knox could work with Probation Services and address his alcohol problems. Sentencing was therefore pending in the report.
