The report said Callery threw a pint glass which struck Danielle Byrne in the face during a gathering for his child’s christening. She was left with scars and nerve damage to her eye. Callery had lost his temper following a melee involving her and other guests.

Garda Gareth Moran told Fiona Murphy, prosecuting, that a fight had broken out between guests. Danielle Byrne told gardaí she had drunk five cocktails and two pints and was “tipsy”.

Garda Gareth Moran agreed with Lorcan Staines, defending, that alcohol did not suit Callery. Judge Mary Ellen Ring said she could not ignore the damage despite the inappropriate behaviour of Danielle Byrne and other guests.
