This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The Court of Appeal upheld the teenager’s murder conviction on 2 November 2023, leaving his life sentence in place, subject to review after 13 years.

Urantsetseg Tserendorj was stabbed on 20 January 2021 on a walkway between George’s Dock and Custom House Quay in Dublin, after the teenager attempted to rob her.

The teenager, who was 14 at the time, had denied murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter. A jury found him guilty of murder on 11 November 2022, following a first trial that ended without agreement.

The appeal challenged evidence about another attempted robbery, a prosecution opening remark, hearsay evidence and the trial judge’s conduct. The Court of Appeal rejected all grounds.
