A teacher accused of sexually assaulting six young men testified at the Central Criminal Court on 18 December 2023, describing a student sleeping in his bed as a “major mistake”.
He pleaded not guilty to one count of attempted anal rape and eight counts of sexual assault involving six complainants, over alleged offences in Co Dublin between March 1991 and November 1997.
The teacher denied that sexual contact occurred with the first complainant, who was 18 at the time. He said the student had got into bed because his home was cold, and that he later realised the situation was inappropriate.
The trial continued before Mr Justice Alexander Owens and a jury. The reports supplied no later verdict or other outcome for the accused.
