Tattoo artist wins High Court review of work permit refusal

By Eimear Byrne

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The High Court quashed a decision refusing a work permit to a Korean tattoo artist and sent the matter back for reconsideration by a different officer.

The proceedings were reported on 19 September 2024. Mr Justice Barry O’Donnell found that the reasons given treated UK occupational classification guidance as binding and did not demonstrate that discretion had been exercised.

The court also found no engagement with the applicant’s submissions about why the classification of her occupation was inappropriate.
