Tadhg Butler’s jury was discharged during his murder trial on 30 April 2015. The proceedings were reported on 30 April 2015.

Butler is charged with murdering Michael O'Dwyer at his address at Seafield in Tramore, Co Waterford, on 10 January 2014. He has pleaded not guilty to murdering him by stabbing him once in the chest.

Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy told the jury that a legal issue arising on 29 April 2015 had led to legal submissions. He said legal consequences had flowed from legal evidence given that day and decided the case should be tried by a different jury. A new jury was due to be sworn in the following Tuesday, with the trial expected to last two weeks.
