Tadhg Butler denied murdering Michael O’Dwyer at the Central Criminal Court, as reported on 11 April 2018. Butler was accused of stabbing O’Dwyer to death at Seafield Holiday Homes in Tramore, Waterford, in January 2014.
Anthony O’Grady, Butler’s nephew and a prosecution witness, told the court he could not remember events surrounding the alleged stabbing or the previous six years. He attributed this to drug addiction, heavy medication and alcohol problems. The judge excused the jury while legal argument took place.
