Sylvia Deehan loses damages claim over Ann Summers party injuries

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Sylvia Deehan’s damages claim was dismissed by the High Court on 1 April 2014, after an appeal concerning injuries she said she suffered at an Ann Summers party. The case involved Loughlinstown Inn Ltd, trading as the Lough Inn Public House.

Mr Justice Max Barrett accepted Ms Deehan’s account of the incident but ruled that the pub had not been shown to have acted negligently. The Circuit Court action had already been dismissed, and the High Court appeal was heard over three days.

The pub argued that any injuries were not sustained at the Lough Inn and that Ms Deehan had not fallen as alleged. Both sides were ordered to pay their own High Court appeal costs, while the Circuit Court costs order against Ms Deehan remained in place.
