Stephen Carberry jailed for impeding prosecution over teen’s remains

By Niamh Kearney

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Stephen Carberry was jailed for six years for impeding the prosecution of a murderer at the Special Criminal Court on 16 February 2026.

The court heard that Carberry helped transport and dispose of teenager Keane Mulready Woods’s remains in Dublin after his murder.

The judge said Carberry’s offending was at the very top end and set a ten-year headline sentence, reduced to seven years and six months after his guilty plea. She further reduced it to six years to account for the consecutive sentence required because he was on bail when he committed the offence.

The court heard that neither Carberry nor Glen Bride was involved in or knew of the murder when it happened. Both were involved in disposing of the remains afterwards, intending to impede the murderer’s apprehension or prosecution.
