Sean Squires received a fully suspended two-year sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for assault causing harm and producing a knife. Judge Martin Nolan imposed the sentence on strict conditions, after Squires had spent a week in custody awaiting finalisation of the sentence.

Squires pleaded guilty to one count of assault causing harm and one count of producing a knife at Liffey Valley, Dublin, arising from an incident on 14 August 2021. The report said he stabbed a young man in the cheek and leg after the man tried to intervene in an argument between Squires and his then-girlfriend on a bus. In mitigation, Kieran Kelly BL said Squires made full and frank admissions to gardaí; Squires told gardaí he carried the pocket knife for protection. Judge Nolan warned that he would face a long prison term if he repeated similar conduct.
