Sean Kearns gets suspended sentence for endangerment

By Eimear Byrne

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Sean Kearns received a three-year suspended sentence for endangerment at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 25 November 2019. The offence occurred on Drimnagh Road, Crumlin, on 27 August 2014, when he drove into cyclist Marcelo Valencia.

The court ordered Kearns to pay Valencia €10,000 within two years. Judge Martin Nolan considered mitigating factors, including Kearns’s work history, but described the driving as reckless and warned that another court appearance could result in imprisonment.

The court heard that Valencia suffered minor injuries and later made a full recovery. Kearns pleaded guilty and had six previous convictions, including one for dangerous driving in 2005.
