Save Cork City Community Association CLG lost its appeal over Cork flood relief works at the Supreme Court on 16 December 2022.
The court dismissed the group’s challenge to planning permission, leaving the works able to proceed. It ruled that An Bord Pleanála had jurisdiction to screen the application for an environmental impact assessment under the Planning and Development Act 2000.
The appeal concerned flood defences around Morrison’s Island and whether the board could conduct that environmental assessment screening. The report said a planning inspector’s report indicated that 374 properties would benefit from the works.
