Sashi Buti was jailed for nine months for taxi-driver robbery at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, as reported on 11 July 2016. The robbery occurred at St Michael’s Estate, Inchicore, after Buti and another man took the driver there from the Naas Road.

Buti pleaded guilty after leaving his passport in the taxi. The driver suffered tenderness and swelling, while the stolen phone, SatNav and €220 were not recovered.

Judge Catherine Murphy imposed the sentence after hearing that Buti had failed to engage fully with probation and restorative justice services and had failed a drugs test.
