Samuel Hutch was sentenced to four years, with the final 18 months suspended, for burglary at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 21 July 2016.

He pleaded guilty to burglary in Cabra on 6 February 2016, as well as trespass, possessing a stolen bicycle and damaging a car door in Sandymount and Ringsend on 25 October 2015.

The court heard that Hutch had special security arrangements in custody and was not allowed visitors or to mix with other prisoners.

Judge Melanie Greally took account of his guilty plea and evidence that the burglaries were committed to fund drug addiction.
