Saif Waleed Al Hindawi was jailed for three and a half years for sexual assault at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. Judge Martin Nolan imposed the sentence. The proceedings were reported on 3 March 2025.

He pleaded guilty to sexual assault. The offence occurred on Churchtown Road on 23 May 2024, where the woman was attacked while walking home.

The report said he claimed intoxication after drinking for the first time and said the woman had hit him first. Defence counsel also cited his cultural background, language difficulties and asylum application. Counsel suggested suspending part of the sentence on condition that he leave the country. The report said Al Hindawi refused infectious-disease testing after biting the woman, and that she consequently waited months for certainty about possible infection.
