This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Ryan Glennon was granted bail on consent by the three-judge, non-jury Special Criminal Court on an IRA membership charge. The proceedings were reported on 5 August 2015.

He was charged with membership of an unlawful organisation, namely Óglaigh na hÉireann, otherwise the Irish Republican Army, otherwise the IRA, within the State on 13 May 2015.

Judge Martin Nolan, presiding alongside Judge Hamill and Judge Ryan, remanded Glennon in custody with consent to bail to 27 October.

An independent surety of €12,000 was present in court. State Solicitor Michael O’Donovan said a freezing order had been placed on the bank account and gardaí were satisfied with the provenance of the account details provided. Glennon was required to enter his own €100 bond to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

His conditions required him to surrender his passport and travel documents, sign on daily at a local garda station, observe a daily curfew and reside at a given address. He also had to provide gardaí with the sole mobile phone number he would use while on bail and keep that phone switched on at all times.

He was required not to leave the jurisdiction, go to county Wexford or contact prosecution witnesses. He could not associate with any co-accused except in the presence of his legal team, or with anyone charged with or convicted of a scheduled offence.

Detective Sergeant Padraig Boyce had told the court that he formally arrested Glennon at Londonbridge Road, Dublin 4, at approximately 5pm on 29 July 2015. The report said the arrest formed part of an ongoing Special Detective Unit operation into dissident republican activity in Dublin.
