Rotunda Hospital apologises over stillbirth treatment

By Gráinne Nolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Rotunda Hospital apologised at the High Court before Mr Justice Anthony Barr on 29 June 2016 and admitted shortcomings in the management of the late stages of Sarah Quigley’s pregnancy. The apology was made to Ms Quigley and Dave Harding following the death of their son David, who was delivered stillborn on 2 September 2010.

The hospital’s apology formed part of the settlement of the couple’s action. The court heard the couple alleged failures to detect placental insufficiency and intervene had caused their son’s death, claims the hospital denied. No other settlement details were revealed.
