Ross Thompson was jailed for 16 months at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for dangerous driving and endangerment. The proceedings were reported on 18 July 2018. The offences occurred during a high-speed chase across Ballymun and Santry on 3 January 2018.
Thompson drove towards a garda patrol car three times, mounted footpaths, crossed a median strip and drove through red lights. He pleaded guilty to two endangerment charges and one dangerous-driving charge. Garda Robert English agreed with defence counsel Gerardine Small that nobody was injured during the pursuit and no damage was caused.
Judge Martin Nolan imposed the sentence consecutively to a term Thompson was already serving. He also disqualified Thompson from driving for six years.
