This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Robert Browne received a fully suspended two-year sentence for making returns that were false in a material particular at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. Judge Pauline Codd imposed the sentence on condition that he pay recompense to two remaining clients within six months.

Browne pleaded guilty to the charge, contrary to section 876 of the Companies Act 2014. The offending occurred between July 2016 and August 2019, when he used his former employer’s Audit Registration Number on late tax returns for five clients.

The report said Browne had paid three clients’ out-of-pocket expenses and had offered recompense to the others. Detective Garda Keith Gorman agreed that Browne had been immediately cooperative and remorseful, while Browne said he had not benefited financially. The proceedings were reported on 20 December 2022.
