This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Richard Manson was jailed for two and a half years after pleading guilty to assault causing serious harm to Patrik Hudacek outside a Dublin bar in December 2023. Judge Martin Nolan imposed a four-year sentence, with the final 18 months suspended on strict conditions.

The court heard that Manson punched Hudacek, who fell and struck his head on the ground. Hudacek underwent five hours of brain surgery and spent five weeks in a medically induced coma. Garda Richard Pender said it was most likely Hudacek would never work again. The judge directed that €20,000 Manson had brought to court as a token of remorse be paid within one month.
