Reece Byrne was given a six-year sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for possession of drugs for sale or supply and money laundering. Judge Martina Baxter suspended the final six months and backdated the sentence to November 2025 for time spent in custody.
Byrne pleaded guilty. The offences concerned Cranogue Close, Ballymun, on December 12, 2023. Garda Pierce O’Dwyer gave evidence that Byrne was the sole occupant when gardaí searched the house, where cocaine, diazepam and further drugs were found, including heroin valued at €13,286 and cocaine valued at €34,000. Byrne acknowledged possession at the scene but later said the drugs were not his and claimed he had a drug debt; the report said gardaí did not accept that explanation. The proceedings were reported on January 14, 2026.
