Raymond Leonard has gone on trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court accused of assaulting Nicholas Devlin and causing him harm in Ranelagh, Dublin, on 30 August 2015. The proceedings were reported on 3 October 2018.
Leonard, 35, of Sliabh Ban, Ballybane, pleaded not guilty.
Devlin said a man punched him twice in the face and kneed him in the groin outside McSorley’s pub. He said doctors later told him he had a ruptured testicle and he underwent surgery to remove part of it.
Devlin agreed with the defending barrister that he had told the jury “I think I'm certain” when pointing out on CCTV the person he said assaulted him. The trial was continuing before Judge Karen O’Connor and a jury.
