Raymond Kelly was jailed for seven and a half years at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 15 January 2021, after pleading guilty to possessing cocaine and heroin for sale or supply. Gardaí stopped him driving at Parkwest Road, Ballyfermot, on 27 September 2019, after an earlier interception found about 20 kilos of heroin and cocaine. Searches also found cannabis resin, bringing the estimated combined street value to approximately €2.1 million.

The court heard Kelly had built up substantial personal debt and was promised a small payment for taking part in the operation. Judge Karen O’Connor said the quantity of drugs was the main aggravating factor and imposed the sentence to date from Friday.
