This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

A jury in a rape trial was discharged at the Central Criminal Court, with the outcome reported on 26 July 2018. A juror said he felt uncomfortable around fellow jurors and was excused after raising personal concerns about comments on his clothes and the way he walked.

The accused had pleaded not guilty to rape and sexual assault alleged to have occurred on a Dublin beach on 29 October 2015. The judge discharged the remaining jurors after the defence applied for the trial to be stopped as unsafe to continue.

The trial was adjourned until the following Monday, when a new trial date was expected to be set.
