Rachel Redmond was jailed for five years, with the final year suspended for three years, for attempting to impede Wayne Cooney’s apprehension or prosecution at the Central Criminal Court on 19 May 2025.
A jury convicted Redmond in March 2025 of attempting to impede Cooney’s apprehension or prosecution while knowing or believing he had committed murder. The conviction followed evidence that she drove him from the scene and paid for a hotel room after Jordan Davis was murdered in Darndale, Dublin.
At sentencing, Mr Justice Paul Burns said Redmond’s actions fell in the upper end of the middle range for offending. He imposed concurrent five-year sentences on the two counts and suspended the final year of the term for three years.
