PRZEMYSLAW TREBACZ lost his appeal against a murder conviction in the Court of Appeal on 21 February 2019. Mr Justice McCarthy delivered the judgment.
The conviction concerned the murder of Mr Cretu on the night of 13 October 2012, and was recorded as having been entered on 18 December 2013. Trebacz was sentenced to imprisonment for life on 17 February 2014.
The appeal argued that the trial was unsatisfactory and the verdict unsafe, citing concerns about Florentina Sotir’s reliability and whether she could observe the incident. The defence also argued that there was insufficient evidence of an intention to kill or cause serious injury. The court rejected every ground and held that the prosecution case was very strong, dismissing the appeal on all grounds.
