Phillip Farrell's ecstasy charges withdrawn after ruling

By Rory Hanlon

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Phillip Farrell had two ecstasy possession charges withdrawn at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 11 March 2015. The charges concerned ecstasy valued at just over €200 and were withdrawn following a Court of Appeal ruling that temporarily legalised possession of the drug.

Farrell had pleaded guilty to possessing heroin for sale or supply on two dates, and to possessing cannabis resin for supply. Judge Desmond Hogan said there was evidence he had acted under duress, and adjourned the case to May for sentence.
