Philip Ogbewe was jailed for seven and a half years, with the final 12 months suspended, for endangerment at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 10 July 2024. He carried out circumcisions at homes in Dublin, Kildare and Wexford.

Ogbewe pleaded guilty to seven endangerment counts and seven counts of assault causing harm, arising from procedures on six infants and one five-year-old between 1 January 2018 and 23 October 2019. The assault charges were taken into consideration at sentence.

Judge Elma Sheahan imposed a global sentence of seven and a half years and suspended its final 12 months on strict conditions. She said the offending was persistent and serious, and that the children had not suffered long-term harm.

The report said all the children were later examined by medical practitioners. One boy had scar tissue and an uneven scar line.
