This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Philip Doyle lost his manslaughter appeal at the Court of Appeal on 18 June 2015.

The case concerned the death of three-and-a-half-month-old Ross Murphy at Creagh Demesne, Gorey, County Wexford, in April 2005.

Doyle had been convicted after a jury rejected his account that the injuries followed an accidental fall.

President of the Court of Appeal Seán Ryan said the conviction was safe and the trial was satisfactory.

Doyle had previously received an 11-year prison sentence from the Central Criminal Court on 15 May 2012.
