Philip Disney and Sean Carlyle failed to overturn their convictions for murdering Vincent Parsons; both had received mandatory life sentences.
The men had denied murdering Parsons at Killinarden Way in Tallaght on August 24, 2019. A jury found them guilty, and Mr Justice Kerida Naidoo imposed the life sentences at the Central Criminal Court.
Parsons, a 34-year-old father of two, had been attending a friend’s stag party. Prosecution counsel Lorcan Staines SC told the trial that Parsons had been drinking for several hours at the Killinarden Inn before an exchange with Disney.
CCTV shown to the jury captured the interaction and showed Parsons leaving the pub and running away. The prosecution said Disney and Carlyle then got into a van, caught up with him and beat him to death on a green area at Killinarden Way. Staines said the men acted together before and after the killing.
At the sentencing hearing, Parsons’s wife Clare described the devastation his death had caused her and their children. She said she was haunted by the belief that her husband had died in fear.
