This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Peter Lam was jailed for transporting MDMA at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 10 June 2024, receiving a four-year sentence with the final 10 months suspended. The drugs were intercepted at Busáras after Lam travelled by bus from Donegal to Dublin.

The court heard that Lam had pleaded guilty to possessing the drugs for sale or supply. Garda evidence was that the boxes contained MDMA worth €470,982, concealed among pottery boxes and children’s toys.

The judge said Lam’s age and health conditions, co-operation and guilty plea were taken into account, alongside the seriousness of the offence and his courier role. He had already spent 10 months in custody and was to receive credit for that time.
