Paul Casey had his charge of membership of an unlawful organisation struck out at the Special Criminal Court on 18 November 2019. The charge followed the discovery of a viable improvised explosive device under a police officer’s car at Shandon Park Golf Club in east Belfast.
The Director of Public Prosecutions told the court it was no longer proceeding against Casey, and the three-judge court granted the request. Casey, of Ballymun, Dublin, had been arrested during a cross-border investigation and charged on 20 August 2019.
