By Ruairí Dolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Paul Brannigan was refused bail over charges of assault causing harm and using a golf club as a weapon at Dublin District Court on 20 March 2014. The alleged attack happened on Fassaugh Avenue, Cabra, during the early hours of 18 March.

The court heard that Jason Saunders died after being found injured outside a shop following a St Patrick’s Day party. A detective sergeant said the incident was captured on CCTV and alleged that Brannigan had asked witnesses to delete footage.

Brannigan’s defence said he claimed to have acted in self-defence and denied asking witnesses to delete CCTV. Judge Patricia McNamara refused bail and remanded him in custody; he was due to appear by video-link at Cloverhill District Court on 26 March.

This case may have concluded differently. The outcome has not yet been confirmed by a public source we could find.
