Paul Beatty was remanded in custody after appearing before Judge Bernadette Owens at Dublin District Court on 4 June 2018. He faced two charges under the Firearms Act.

Beatty, 31, of Eugene Street, Dublin 8, was accused of unlawful possession of a .38 special calibre Smith & Wesson revolver and five rounds of ammunition at Charlemont Parade, Dublin 3, on 2 June 2018.

Detective Enda Gormley told the court that Beatty had been charged at Mountjoy Garda station at 6.38pm on 3 June. He said Beatty was cautioned and made no reply when charged.

Defence solicitor John O’Doherty said Beatty was not applying for bail at that stage. The judge granted legal aid at the solicitor’s request. There was no indication of a plea.

Beatty was remanded in custody to appear again at Cloverhill District Court on Wednesday.

This report covers an earlier stage of the case. Later developments are not reported here.
