This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The jury in Patrick Quirke’s murder trial resumed deliberations on 24 April 2019. The proceedings were reported on 24 April 2019.

Quirke pleaded not guilty to the murder of Bobby Ryan. The report described Ryan as a part-time DJ known as Mr Moonlight.

The jury had deliberated for more than three-and-a-half hours and was sent home at about 4pm. It was due to resume on Thursday morning at 11am. The available verdicts were guilty of murder or not guilty.

On 23 April, the jury requested Quirke’s garda interviews and phone records, which were handed in. The prosecution alleged Quirke murdered Ryan to rekindle an affair with Mary Lowry. The defence contended that the prosecution had failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt and that the jury must acquit.
