By Tadhg O'Sullivan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Patrick McCann was jailed for attempted murder at the Central Criminal Court, where he received a 20-year sentence with the final three years suspended. He pleaded guilty to attempting to murder Luke Wilson and to possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

The offences occurred at Liffey Gaels, Memorial Park, Inchicore, on 13 January 2013. The report said Wilson was shot in the arm, neck and face, but survived after the gun jammed twice. Mr Justice Paul Carney said McCann’s dependence on drink and drugs from childhood and dysfunctional family background afforded little or no defence.

The proceedings were reported on 18 November 2013.
