Patrick Manning received a suspended sentence for theft at Dublin Circuit Court on 18 January 2018. The 70-year-old had pleaded guilty to a number of thefts linked to fraudulent Barclays credit cards.
The cards were used to buy computers, jewellery, mobile phones, clothes and hotel stays in Letterkenny, Drogheda and Dublin. Manning was described as a participant in a €52,000 fraud involving cards obtained using the details of legitimate customers, but investigators did not believe he was the operation’s main organiser.
