Patrick ‘Fishy’ Fitzgerald withdrew his appeal against a seven-year prison sentence after the Court of Appeal reminded him of the full range of its powers. The proceedings were reported on 20 July 2026.
On 7 July 2025, Ms Justice Eileen Creedon sentenced Fitzgerald at the Central Criminal Court and ruled that the seven-year term should run consecutively to the seven-and-a-half-year sentence he was serving for aggravated burglary.
Fitzgerald pleaded guilty to facilitating a criminal organisation. He had initially been charged with the attempted murder of Gary Carey at Ballyfermot Crescent, Dublin, on 17 November 2021.
