Patricia Rochford secures barrier removal at High Court

By Gráinne Nolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Patricia Rochford secured an undertaking before the High Court on 25 June 2019 for a barrier blocking access from her south Dublin home to be removed.

Rochford, a wheelchair user, had claimed that a concrete obstacle and a 9 to 12-inch step on the rear laneway prevented her from reaching Adelaide Road.

John Larney, acting for Morgan Crowe, said Crowe was prepared to remove the barrier within the following week. Crowe’s position that he owned the laneway, and Rochford’s claimed right of way, remained contested for a full hearing.

Ms Justice Leonie Reynolds said the court had health and safety concerns about the barrier and that the right-of-way dispute should be heard as soon as possible.
