Survivor Patricia O’Connor described her escape from the Stardust fire at Dublin District Coroner’s Court on 27 November 2023.

She said Caroline Carey, who died in the fire, had been grounded but was allowed to attend after O’Connor and a friend spoke with her mother. Carey was 17 and pregnant at the time.

O’Connor said she suffered burns to more than half her body and still hears people calling for their parents as they tried to escape.
