Patricia Kelly was fined €1,500 and disqualified from acting as a director for five years at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 22 February 2024. Judge Martin Nolan gave her six months to pay the fine.

Kelly, of Alexandra Manor, Clane, Co Kildare, pleaded guilty before Judge Patricia Ryan on 8 December 2023 to one count of failing to keep proper books of account as a director of Console Suicide Bereavement Counselling. The charge concerned dates between 6 December 2006 and 21 May 2015.

The Director of Public Prosecutions accepted her plea on the basis that the failure was not wilful. Judge Nolan said the basis of the plea prevented him from imposing a prison sentence.

The judge said he had examined 28 charges that the State was not pursuing. He said the State had concluded it could not prove the allegations and had accepted a plea.

Earlier proceedings had concerned two counts of fraudulent trading and one of money laundering. At a previous hearing, Kelly's solicitor had said she would contest those charges.
