Mark Fox gets suspended sentence for dangerous driving

By Cathal Brosnan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Mark Fox received a three-and-a-half-year sentence, suspended in full, for dangerous driving at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. Judge Martin Nolan also disqualified him from driving for five years. The proceedings were reported on 23 June 2022.

Fox pleaded guilty to eight charges: two counts of endangerment, three counts of dangerous driving, drink driving, driving without a licence and resisting arrest. The report said he had been disqualified from driving at the time and was driving on three tyres during a high-speed pursuit on 9 May 2021.

The report said Fox later apologised and cooperated with the investigation. His defence referred to long-term mental health problems linked to attacks by a family member during childhood, and said he had remained sober and free of drugs after his partner gave him an ultimatum. The judge suspended the sentence in full because of Fox's mental health problems and their causes, and said he had expressed remorse and shame.
