Pat Whelan was fined €3,000 for failing to maintain a register of a director’s loan at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 16 January 2017.
Whelan had pleaded guilty to the offence involving a loan of more than €8m to former Anglo Irish Bank director Willie McAteer. Judge Martin Nolan gave him three months to pay and said Whelan probably did not know the appropriate way to record the transaction.
