A jury failed to reach a verdict in Jason O'Driscoll’s double murder trial at the Central Criminal Court. He was charged with murdering Anthony Burnett and Joseph Redmond in County Louth on 7 March 2012.

O'Driscoll pleaded not guilty to both charges. He was arraigned on 17 October.

The jury began considering its verdict on 5 December 2017. After 11 and a half hours of deliberations over four days, it returned on 8 December and said it could not reach either a unanimous or majority verdict.

Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy excused the jurors from jury service for life and remanded O'Driscoll in custody, saying he could apply for bail at any time. The proceedings were reported on 8 December 2017.
