Nermana Gojak was sentenced to three years, with the final 12 months suspended, at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, as reported on 19 March 2019. She had pleaded guilty to stealing €41,380 from a retired GP she worked for as a carer.

The theft occurred over five years through ATM withdrawals, card purchases, cash-back transactions and transfers between the victim’s accounts. Judge Melanie Greally took account of Gojak’s guilty plea, cooperation, remorse, lack of previous convictions and €2,000 offered in court.

The suspended portion was subject to strict conditions, including engagement with the Probation Service for 12 months. The money had not been repaid when the sentence was imposed.
