Michael McGuirk appeared in court charged with dangerous driving causing death after Carol Seery was killed on Phibsborough Road. The proceedings were reported on 3 November 2023.
The Irish Times reported that McGuirk, 23, also faced a reckless endangerment charge. The court heard he made no reply to the charges, and the Director of Public Prosecutions directed trial in the Circuit Criminal Court. Judge Treasa Kelly remanded him in custody to Cloverhill Prison until the following Friday.
An inquest into Seery’s death opened at Dublin District Coroner’s Court on 28 May 2024. The coroner recorded multiple traumatic injuries due to a road traffic collision as the cause of death for the purpose of releasing a death certificate. The hearing was adjourned because an individual had been charged in relation to her death and was before the courts.
