This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Michael Finlay and Dean Byrne kept concurrent five-year prison terms for firearm and ammunition possession after the Court of Appeal refused a sentence review application on 24 February 2017.

The men were convicted in the Special Criminal Court on 16 June 2016 and sentenced on 1 July 2016. Their sentences applied to possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.

The appeal court found the sentences lenient but not unduly lenient, and identified no error of principle in their imposition.
