This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Michael Doran was sentenced to five years, with the final two suspended, at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 8 December 2015 for robberies, hijacking and car theft. The offences occurred in Dundrum, south Dublin, between 12 and 25 March 2009. Doran had pleaded guilty to two robberies, hijacking, car theft and theft of car keys.

The court heard that Doran threatened David Morgan with a knife and warned that a sniper would follow him if he contacted gardaí. He was also involved in the mugging of Paul Caffrey, the theft of Caffrey’s wife’s car using stolen keys and the hijacking of a pizza delivery driver’s car. Judge Martin Nolan suspended part of the sentence in light of Doran’s rehabilitation efforts and time spent in prison in the UK.
