By Tadhg O'Sullivan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Michael Devlin Junior and Michael Devlin Senior had their cannabis sentence appeals dismissed by the Court of Appeal on 26 February 2016. Both had received 12-year sentences, with four years suspended for Senior and two years suspended for Junior, after pleading guilty to possession of cannabis for sale or supply.

The offences followed the pair’s rendezvous with an observed lorry in Termonfeckin, County Louth, before Gardaí seized 262 cannabis packages weighing 64.50kg and valued at more than €1.3 million.

The Court of Appeal held that the sentences imposed by Dundalk Circuit Criminal Court fell within the available range and that no error of principle had been established.
