Maurice McCabe’s Disclosures Tribunal case was adjourned on 13 February 2018 after closing submissions about a false rape allegation.
The first module examined how a 2013 Tusla file containing false sexual-abuse allegations was created, distributed and used, including whether it was knowingly used to discredit him.
McCabe’s lawyer said the allegation’s inclusion resulted from a cut-and-paste error rather than deliberate action or ill will. Lawyers for Tusla and the garda commissioner said there was no evidence of a conspiracy or deliberate plan to harm him.
The tribunal was due to resume the following month.
